Since my kids are no longer in daycare, I wanted to make sure they had some great but also educational things to use at home. After some trial and error, I realized my kids don’t necessarily need a ton of toys. Instead, they need things that keep them interested, engaged, and encourages creativity. I am not anti-screen, but I do try to limit screen time when possible. I have found a few things that I would absolutely recommend to anyone with kids.

Here are some of my current favorite kids’ toys:
Magnetic tiles. These are so versatile! They are magnetic, so they stick to each other, and the possibilities for building are endless. They also stick to the fridge, and anything else that is magnetic. There are many different set available now with various patterns, and some even include cars!

Tonies box. So fun! We refer to this as their “music box”. Each figure has relevant songs and stories that it will play aloud. The box itself is made of a durable, soft fabric, and my kids haven’t been able to break it yet. They make so many different Tonies characters now there truly is something for everyone! It does have a charger that comes with it, but the battery has lasted a long time for us. It’s also simple enough to use that my kids play independently.

Tea party set. My daughter is obsessed with this tea party set. It comes with so many different pieces and a nice cute carrying case for easy clean up. It comes with plates, cups, tea kettle, desserts, and more. She loves having tea parties with family, friends, the dog, and even her stuffed animals!

Train table. My kids are obsessed with this one as well. It’s incredibly versatile, but make sure you have enough space, as the table itself is a decent size. It’s mostly made of wood, so it’s built to last, and it has a drawer to store all the pieces. The track can be built in so many different ways. It’s also cool because you can flip the top over, clean up the train pieces, and use it as a table for arts and crafts, puzzles, and more. My kids play with this almost every day!
Interactive books. Educational and fun! These are great for kids who love books but can’t quite read yet. They come with a pen that tells them what different things are and even includes a search-and-find game. The pen does require batteries, but that’s it. It was super easy to figure out and came with two different books.

Magnetic drawing pads. I loved these as a kid, and I was so happy to find them again! My favorite part is that they are completely mess-free, and the pen stays attached—no more searching for the right writing utensils. Erasing and starting over is quick and easy. These keep my kids entertained when they want to draw without making a mess. I also like to keep these drawing pads in my diaper bag for when we’re on the go. They’re great to have on a plane, too!
